Our travel spotlight shines on a city close to home for us today. Houston, Texas may be driving distance for us, but we argue it’s worth the visit no matter how far you have to travel to get there. Known as one of the most diverse cities in the country, Houston has so much to offer any traveler. It has everything you’d expect from a big city from fabulous restaurants to museums and shopping, and as they say,”Everything’s bigger in Texas.”
Be it the museum district, theater district, or quiet gallery, the culture of a city that loves art will grab your attention. We’ve listed some of the major highlights but the list certainly goes on…and on.
Located in the heart of Houston’s Museum District, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston is a must see. Comprised of two gallery buildings, a sculpture garden, library, movie theater, gift shop, café, two art schools, and two house museums—Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, and Rienzi. Established in 1900, it is among the 10 largest art museums in the United States, with a collection of more than 65,000 works.
Also not to be missed, The Houston Museum of Natural Science is one of the most heavily attended museums in the United States. In addition to the permanent exhibits, the Museum houses a planetarium, Wortham GIANT Screen Theatre, and even a Butterfly Center. There are tons of educational and entertaining activities for kids and families alike.
For the modern art lover, The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston is sure to please. It is a non-collecting institution, meaning all new works each time you come visit. Also a perk- it is always free admission.
In addition to the visual arts, Houston is a great place to enjoy the performance arts. It is one of only five cities with permanent professional resident companies in all of the major performing arts disciplines: the Houston Grand Opera, the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Ballet, and The Alley Theatre.
Houston is also known for it’s high end retail stores. We are lucky to have our line represented in these fabulous shops below, where you’ll find our jewelry alongside fabulous designer clothing and accessories.

Another unique opportunity Houston has to offer this time of year is the Houston Rodeo. Rodeo has been a tradition in Houston since 1932. The three-week extravaganza kicks off in early March with a Parade through the streets of downtown. More than 2 million people will go to enjoy the grounds, events and entertainers over the rodeo season. With petting zoos, games and rides, the grounds are a great place to spend time with family.
On top of the excitement of the rodeo events, like bull riding, bucking broncos and barrel racing, spectators will also get to enjoy a concert in the arena. Some of the performers this year include Alicia Keys, Fifth Harmony, Blink 182, and ZZ Top as well as country favorites like Chris Stapleton, Alan Jackson, and Willie Nelson. Also, our jewelry just happens to go great with a fabulous pair of cowboys boots.
If you’re looking for a great spot to eat, shop, and enjoy the culture, look no further than Houston, Texas.
Safe travels y’all!
